Youth members are highly valued by our Club, making up one third of our patrolling membership. This season we have kicked off the Youth Engagement Program to provide our Youth members with a structured engagement program to maintain motivation and ongoing involvement with the Club while providing you with the opportunity to explore and become involved in a range of areas within the Club which you may not have previously considered.
The Youth coordinators and I are excited to launch this new youth program and hope that in the years to come it goes from strength to strength.
Like any new initiative it will require all our youth members to take a proactive approach to help make it a success. So please don’t hesitate in getting involved in the different of opportunities available as part of your membership. In addition to your patrols there are four main areas for you to engage in and develop your skill set in. They are:
- Lifesaving
- Surf Sports
- Leadership & Administration
- Education
You can specialise in just one of the above through participation in the Surf Cred program or you can mix and match throughout the season, trying different activities that the Club offers that you may not have tried before. You can create a season that suits you. The beauty of a Club is that it is so diverse, there’s something for everyone!
We know that Surf Life Saving and patrols is a big commitment but the service we provide to the community is invaluable and you play a major part in this. As well as the professionalism that comes with being a patrolling member, we encourage all the Youth to push for personal best, learn some new skills and above all, HAVE FUN! Here’s to a safe, happy and exciting 2022-23 season.
