What’s it all about?
The Surf Sports program offers a wide range of competition events for all ages culminating in the NSW State Age Championships each year for juniors. Surf Sports is an active, healthy lifestyle choice, which builds camaraderie and allows for the further development of skills learnt at Nippers. More detail of the program can read in the Cooks Hill SL & SC Competition Overview & FAQ’s
If you are a Junior competing for Cooks Hill SL & SC this year, please read the Cooks Hill SL & SC Junior Members Competition Information & Policy.
We also ask families to familiarise themselves with the Competition Code of Conduct and Selection Policy.
This policy aims to provide equity and transparency to the selection process and give all competitors the
opportunity to compete at the highest level and to ensure competition is fostered at all levels.
For a list of all carnivals dates and locations, please check the Hunter Surf Lifesaving Competition Calendar. This document does change, so please check back regularly.
Competitor Fees are outlined in the policy document, and available here to view. All fees must be paid for prior to being entered into your first Carnival.
If you need to pay, log onto your SLS members portal account. Click on tab ‘Online Payments’ – click on Make Payment in the middle of the page and follow the prompts. This includes casual carnival entry.
Surf Sports Storage Facility
There is a storage facility available to competitors at the Newcastle Harbour Surf Sports Facility. Access and use of the facility is available as per the Storage Facility Policy. Use of the facility is outlined as per the Facility Key Policy. The Policy is final, and any grievances regarding access needs to be directed to the Board.
The club has the provision to hire surf craft to members for the use and development of these skills. The costs involved in hiring of the surf craft contributes to but does not cover the purchase cost and the club relies on sponsorship and fundraising to ensure that sufficient boards are available for use. For more information please read the Board Hire Agreement and Craft Hire fee schedule.
Pool & Surf Proficiency for Nippers
All of our competitors (U9 – 13) must have completed their Pool Swim Proficiency and a surf swim proficiency for U9 – U14 prior to competing, even if a competitor only intends to do beach events. Surf proficiencies are generally conducted at Sunday Nippers.
“Team App” is used for all competition related information and reminders. There is a website and an application for both iPhone and Android please download it, register and search for “Cooks Hill SLSC Team”. The search screen should return a tri colour badge (red, white, blue) icon like the CHCLSC Cap, select it and request membership to “All Competitors.”
