Cooks Hill feel its extremely important that everyone is able to safely enjoy the beaches.
Since 2012, we have been running several free community education programmes to help education members of our community who would not usually, have been educated around being safe at the beach.
Accessing the knowledge our patrolling members have regarding beach safety for our new settling families to Newcastle from communities living with a refugee like background or students studying at our TAFE or University.
Indigenous nippers – aiming to allow access for knowledge regarding beach safety for our indigenous families, who often don’t attend nippers.
The programs include:
- Entering and existing surf water safely
- Beach safety
- Flag races
- Beach Sprint
- Rescue techniques
- Riding rescue boards
These programs are always well received and fully enjoyed by everyone.
