Monster Gala and Carnival 1918
This advertisement appeared in The Newcastle Morning Herald on Saturday 12th January 1918. Our Surf Club ran a surf carnival to raise funds for our WW1 Memorial which to this day still stands overlooking Bar Beach. They ran a lot of events including numerous boxing matches. Thanks to Hunter Valley Military History for sharing this interesting article. It’s easy to feel proud of our Club history as we are all part of a true Newcastle icon being fellow members of Cooks Hill Surf Lifesaving Club.
