Surf Sports

Surf Sports competition is a great way to keep fit, have fun and support your club at the same time. Cooks Hill are active in most areas of carnival competition and have a proud record of carnival achievements. Our Nipper teams are consistently placing in the top two at the Hunter Branch Championships and have placed 3rd at the NSW State Age Championships, in 2015-16 and the 2017-18 season and then crowned the NSW State Age Champions in 2018-19 season.

Cooks Hill have a strong competitor team from our Age (Nipper), Open & Masters categories. We encourage our members to compete at HSLS Branch Championships, out of Branch Surf Sport Series, i.e. Sydney Water, Summer of Surf (SoS), SLSNSW State Age Championships and SLSA Championships. Nippers competition is U0’s – U14 at State Age Championships in addition to the Age Championships the U13’s & U14’s are eligible to compete at the Australian Championships.

Every season we, as a club, send teams to these events along with supporters and parents. Our teams are among some of the strongest and well supported in surf lifesaving and certainly past results support this. There are many disciplines where you can become involved in, within Surf Sports, Swim, Craft (Board, Ski), Beach (sprint, flags), IRB, Patrol Competition, Champion Lifesaver and Surf Boats. Cooks Hill SLSC has a long and successful history in many of these disciplines at a State and National level since the 1920’s.

For our senior Patrolling members, you must complete 25 patrolling hours in order to compete in Surf Sports. The patrol hour regulations are enforceable by the club and SLSA.
