What’s it all about?

The Surf Sports program offers a wide range of competition events for all ages culminating in the NSW State Age Championships for U9 – U14’s and the SLSA Australian Championships for U13 & U14’s. Surf Sports is an active, healthy lifestyle choice, which builds camaraderie and allows for the further development of skills learnt at Nippers. Competition Policy

If you are a Junior competing for Cooks Hill SLSC, please read and familiarise yourself with the Competition Selection Policy and Code of Conduct Policy.

These policies aim to provide equity and transparency to the selection process and give all competitors the opportunity to compete at the highest level and to ensure competition is fostered at all levels.

Competition Calendar

At the end of each season, Cooks Hill SLSC will publish a list of carnival dates that we are targeting as a Club. You can also keep an eye on the Hunter Surf Lifesaving website for carnival details.

Surf Sports Storage Facility

There is a storage facility available to competitors at the Newcastle Harbour Surf Sports Facility. Access and use of the facility is available as per the Newcastle Harbour Storage Facility Policy.  Use of the facility is outlined as per the Facility Key Policy.  The Policy is final, and any grievances regarding access needs to be directed to the Board.

Board Hire

The club has the provision to hire surf craft to members for the use and development of these skills.  The costs involved in hiring of the surf craft contributes to but does not cover the purchase cost and the club relies on sponsorship and fundraising to ensure that sufficient boards are available for use. Pool & Surf Proficiency for Nippers

All of our competitors (U9 – 13) must have completed their pool swim proficiency and a surf swim proficiency for U9 – U14 prior to competing, even if a competitor only intends to do beach events. Proficiencies are generally conducted prior to the season commencing.

Communication

“Team App” and “Whats App” are used for all competition related information and reminders.
