Full Lifesaving Award

Trainers: TBA

Timed pool swim (400m in 9 minutes) on TBA at a venue to be agreed at the introduction evening.

All Theory sessions are held on a weekday evening from 6.00PM to 8.00PM at Cooks Hill Surf Club. Proposed start date TBC

All practical sessions are held on a weekend for two hours (TBA) at Bar Beach (Surf Dependent)

Bronze Medallion Cert II Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)

Course Summary:  The aim of this course is to provide members with knowledge of basic patrolling, first aid and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in life saving operations. This is the main award for Surf Life Savers in Australia

9.00 minute 400 m pool swim is a requirement to qualify for bronze.

Surf Rescue Certificate

Course Summary: The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.

Current Course to start-  Thursday 27th July 2017

 

There is a pre-requisite for acceptance on the course of swimming 200m in 5 minutes.

All Theory sessions are held on Thursday Evenings 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM at Cooks Hill Surf Club.

All practical sessions are held on Sunday Mornings for two hours (8.00 AM to 10.00 AM at Bar Beach (Surf Dependent).

IRB Driver (Silver Medallion)

Course Summary: The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

 

IRB Crew

Course Summary: The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

 

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate (ARTC)

Course Summary:The aim of this course is to provide participants with the practical skills and knowledge to enable them to be competent in the use of oxygen, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious and unconscious breathing causalities.

 

Spinal Management

Course Summary:The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to manage injured casualties with suspected spinal injuries in an aquatic environment and in emergency situations.

 

Basic Beach Management

Course Summary:The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience required to manage a beach in emergency and non-emergency situations. This module is designed to expand on beach management topics covered in the Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue).
